Boone And Scenic Valley Railroad - Boone, Iowa Visitors can hop aboard a train beginning in Boone with vintage railroad cars and take a fifteen or twenty-two mile round-trip. This excursion wends its way through the beautiful Des Moines River valley and takes one over two bridges—one trestle is 156-foot high. Weekdays the nine-car train is pulled by a diesel engine. On weekends and holidays, The Iowan, said to be the first Chinese steam locomotive in the United States, does the work.
The Wolf Train and the Dinner Train trips are each twenty-two miles round-trip. Riders should allow at least two hours for a trip.
Admission — $14.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5-12, Monday – Friday, Memorial Day weekend – October 31; $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5-12, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.
