They are members of the American Hockey League offering quality entertainment and great hockey.

The team practices at the KGGO Arena on Hickman. The practices are open to the public. The training sessions are in the morning.

The team was formed and began playing in the 2005 -2006 season. They have a five year affiliation agreement with the Dallas Stars and a one year agreement with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Mascot is a raccoon named "Shooter".

Hockey has gained a loyal following in the Des Moines area with the Buccaneers and the Stars both playing here. The Bucs play at the KGGO Areana while the Stars will be playing their regular home games at the Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.

Don’t want to drive to the game? As a season ticket holder you won’t have to! This season Stars fans will be invited to take advantage of free transportation to the game from one of 5 area bars. Before every Friday home game the "Stars and Bars" Party Bus will be providing free rides from; The Royal Mile, Hessen House, Buzzard Billy’s, El Bait Shop, and the High Life Lounge, to the Wells Fargo Arena.

The team will be playing 42 home games, tickets are available on an individual basis or partial season or full season.
