A center for Arts, Culture, Music, Entertaining and Learning the Temple has been restored to its once grand status.

the Temple is listed on the National Historic Register. Marked as one of the "most endangered" historic buildings by the National Historical Register, The Temple For Performing Arts was given new life with renovations completed in October of 2002.

Planners and promoters can rent facilities such as the grand ballroom and performance hall where receptions, weddings, and meetings can be held. Cutting edge audio-visual facilities, catering and entertainment can all be tailored to one?s specific tastes and theme. From a small staff meeting to a gala 600+ person event, The Temple For Performing Arts provides beautiful accommodations complete with catering!

The Grand Hall, located on the fourth floor, spans 4,000 square feet. Architecturally considered the jewel of The Temple, the Grand Hall accommodates up to 450 people seated theater style, about 275 for a sit-down dinner with a head table, or 350 people for a sit-down dinner without a head table. The Hall features beautifully restored stained glass sky lights, elegant two-story columns, and ornate original light fixtures and sculpted ceiling.

The Recital Hall, located on the fourth floor, is 1,200 sq. ft., and seats 80- 100 people theatre style. This room is the ideal size for smaller gatherings, or as a break away room in conjunction with the Grand Hall. The Recital Hall features three, large stained glass windows, original fresco stencils, trompe l’oeil stone painting and a beautiful hardwood floor.

The Performance Hall, located on the second floor, also measures 4,000 square feet. This room is acoustically equipped for a wide range of musical and theatrical performances. The Temple Theatre accommodates approximately 300 people in theater-style seating.

The Des Moines Symphony Association is proud to call The Temple for Performing Arts the home of the Des Moines Symphony Academy.

The Iowa Youth Chorus also calls the Temple their new home enabling more students to expand their musical talents.
