Story’s Fairview Cemetery Walk, Story City Iowa

Story City Historical Society is presenting Fairview Cemetery Walk. Eleven former residents will be portrayed near their resting place in the cemetery. Costumed characters will tell the story of how each person contributed to the community.
Three portrayers are descendants of their subject. Included are businessmen, B.T. Holm, harness shop owner starting in the late 1800′s and C. J. Charlson who sold sewing machines and tombstones. Farmer and dairy owner P. A. Hermanson’s story will be told as well as a mason, Martin Jensen, jeweler, Mag Idse, milliner Julia Amlund and railroad agent’s wife, Ellen Nessa. Go to Jail (for refreshments) after your tour is finished at the Brick Museum on Hillcrest.
The event is Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, 25 from 4:30 – 7:30 at the Fairview Cemetery. Parking is available at the elementary school. Tours leave every 15 minutes. Please reserve your spot by purchasing tickets in advance at the Greater Chamber Connection office, 515-733-4214 for $10. If you need to ride, reserve a golf cart when purchasing your ticket. Available tickets may be purchased on site the days of the tour. Rain date events will be held Sunday, July 25 at 1:30 and 3:30 at the Roland-Story High School Auditorium.
