Permanent and changing exhibits and programs bring Lynn County history alive in Cedar Rapids.

The collections of the Carl & Mary Koehler History Center include over 35,000 objects ranging is size from hat-pins to electric cars. The lower level of The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center comprises collection storage space of 8,000 square feet. This is where all large and three-dimensional items are stored. The collections of the History Center are core to the mission of The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center – to engage visitors in an understanding of the local history of Linn County.

The Linge Library and Armstrong Research and Archives Center hold the paper and photographic collections of the Carl & Mary Koehler History Center.

TimeQuest, a virtual ride through downtown Cedar Rapids in 1900, a library and archives, a collection of over 35,000 artifacts, and a museum store are all part of the Museum.

    Do you have any idea when the aero-foil boat built by Dr Lippisch will be displayed. Where is it currently stored.? My father was the pilot of the areo foill boat.

  4. This artifact is currently in storage at the History Center. We are planning to display it after it is restored. It will be restored as soon as we can find the funds to accomplish the restoration. At the present time we have no time-line for this to be done. We would have liked to do it yesterday, but we just don’t have the funds or space to do it quickly.
