When you want to spend a great night watching baseball then you should go to a game of the Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball Team. The team is affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Class A minor league team plays in the Midwest League. The franchise was awarded in 1962, in 1965 they became affiliated with the Cardinals (1965-1972) followed by the Astros from 73 -74, the Giants from 75-79 and then the Reds from 1809 – 92. They affiliated with the Angels before the 1993 season.
The Kernels play in the new Veterans Memorial Stadium which was constructed in time for the 2002 season. The old Veterans Memorial Stadium was built in 1949 and then demolished after the 2001 season.
The ticket prices for the 2010 season are priced as follows: Lawn seating $7, Plaza seating $8, Club seating $9, and Premier seating for $10. Check to make sure the ticket prices haven’t changed from one year to another.
The team also holds Youth Baseball camps during the summer where the Kernels coaching staff and players will work with the kids to work on basic baseball fundamental skills of hitting, throwing, catching and running.
The team has school and community night events. Schools from the area are invited to come and enjoy a night at the park. You can also have birthday parties at the park for your kids. These include the birthday person and nine friends. The party starts 60 minutes before the game. The party includes a Club ticket for everyone in the group, a voucher for dinner at the stadium (hot dog, chips and soda), a Culver’s frozen concete cake, a Kernels logo baseball for the birthday person, pennants for the other children, a special cake presentation during the game and throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before the game.

From I-380 southbound – exit at 1st Ave. west. Go west to 15th Street and turn left.
Stadium is two blocks on left.
From I-380 northbound – exit at Wilson Ave and turn left. Follow Wilson Ave to Rockford Road and turn right. Stadium is 1 mile on left.
