This group of houses was built in the 1940’s and has been used for housing by the hippie community of the 70’s. It was the Greenwich Village of Iowa. The talented and artistic of every year since the 40’s that have attended the Writer’s Workshop at the University of Iowa has graced this area with their impressions and it still goes forward today.
Anamosa Penitentiary Museum - Anamosa, Iowa
This historic stone building on the prison grounds displays artifacts and historical information about Iowa’s largest correctional facility.
The museum offers displays describing prison life, the “guard” through the years, and a large variety of photographs from the prison’s early days.
Amazing Maize Maze - Princeton, Iowa
In a 4-acre cornfield outside of Princeton, Iowa, a 2-mile maze has been cut through the cornstalks. Visitors are provided with a game board so that they can collect clues and create a map as they find their way through the twists and turns of the maize. Several mini-mazes are also on the property along with a petting zoo. Children can experience pedaling around on John Deere mini-tractors.
Amana Heritage Museum - Amana, Iowa
The Amana Heritage Museum is comprised of three 19th Century buildings, set in spacious grounds. The Noé House, built in 1864, was originally a communal kitchen and later a doctor’s residence. Exhibits in the Noé House trace the history and development of Amana, depict a church interior, and display the varied crafts and industries of the Inspirationists.
Amana Community Church Museum - Homestead, Iowa

The Homestead Church is an excellent example of a Community of True Inspiration church. It was built in 1865 of locally made brick. The Homestead Church originally had living quarters for community members on both ends with the Saal (meeting hall) occupying the long middle section.
