This historic limestone grist mill in Maquoketa has had many different lives. Originally it had been the Oakland Mill, built in 1867 as a water-powered turbine that supplied the power for grinding wheat. Later on, it was a cattle barn. It was an was used as a cattle barn to house horses and cows. It was an art gallery/home to wildlife artist, Patrick J. Costello from 1979 to 2006. Patrick’s daughter, Tracy Costello Taylor has turned it into Costello’s Old Mill Wedding Site and Reception Hall, a place to gettting married in the park-like backyard and have your reception just a few steps away in the historic charming mill. Have any special event there! The mill has been featured on Home and Garden TV TWICE!
