I have biked RAGBRAI in 2006-2007-2008. I am always telling people the bike ride across IOWA is awesome! There are so many cyclists & vendors. I remember in 2006 asking just how many baked potatoes did they fix…..800. Then in 2007, after biking most of the way across Iowa….I found myself in Dyersville. My RAGBRAI XXXV photo album has 4 pages of pictures & post cards of the beautiful St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Three more pages feature Dyersville..the Basilica & the Field of Dreams. After spending the night in nearby Dubuque, my group of four (3 biking) were back in downtown Dyersville. We took pictures that morning of the group, with the Basilica in the background.

My group of 4 enjoyed the spaghetti dinner at the Baasilica that Friday (July 27, 2007). It was so good…salad, spaghetti & meatballs, garlic bread, beverage & dessert. The line was long when we started, the fellowship hall was full, & the line was still long when we left. My questions is ….just how many plates of spaghetti & meatballs did you serve that Friday???

PS- I turned 65 in May and I am not sure if I will do RAGBRAI in 2009 or wait until another year. It is one super fun ride!!! I have biked my homestate of North Carolina twice, biking Cycle North Carolina in 2007 & 2008. It is a ride much like Iowa, 7 days of biking 440 to 480 miles. Bike Virginia is a 5-day ride in a circuit & not across the state. I did two days of Bike Virginia in 2006. Bike Virginia 2009 is coming back to Culpeper for a third time.
