This 1850 Victorian home was built by the founder of Dyersville three years after the town was platted out and has been renovated. The rooms are furnished with period antiques circa 1870 to 1900 and decorated with Victorian wallpaper. More than 900 dolls are displayed in the upstairs rooms, posed among antique tables, buggies, cradles, and toys. Another interesting highlight is a 1912 revolving Christmas tree that has been decorated with German, Polish, and Czech ornaments.

  1. Kay Hansen says:

Hello, I was doing a web search trying to find information about a small wax Charlie Chaplin doll that I have. My search landed me at your website with a reference to a collection of dolls donated by the Schemmel family. In the description of the collection a wax Charlie Chaplin doll is mentioned. Is it possible to find out more about that? I could send you a picture of my doll to see if it looks similar to the one in the collection. Any information you could give me would be most appreciated. Thank you very much, Kay Hansen alkayhansen@telus.net.

  2. I have forwarded your request on to the Chamber in Dyersville and asked them to contact the museum with your request and get back to you. Good luck
