Col. George Davenport Home – Quad Cities, Iowa
This historic mansion was built in the middle of the Mississippi River on Arsenal Island at the Quad Cities in 1833 when Colonel Davenport began the work of changing the area from a frontier settlement to a bustling community. The home is located on the north shore of the Island, and is the oldest residence in the Quad Cities area.
The restored Col. George Davenport Home, in Davenport, IA. It was established as a log cabin trading post in 1816, and replaced by this restored home in 1833.
The island is three miles long. The island was garrisoned in 1816; later on Colonel Davenport established a fur trading post there. In 1836, he bought a parcel of land on the Iowa side of the river and founded the city of Davenport.

Group pricing is available. CDHF requires two weeks advance notice on groups of ten or more.
School tours are also available year-round and require advance notice. Special pricing is available.

Directions – Signs on Rodman Ave, a main East-West street on Arsenal Island indicates a turn-off to Hillman Ave.
Home is at the end and to the right of Hillman.
Hours – noon – 4:00 p.m., Thursday – Sunday, early May –October 31, by appointment the rest of the year. The Colonel Davenport House is open to the public from May through October.
Tours are provided during these months by trained docents from noon until 4:00 P.M. Thursday through Sunday.
