Stampe Lilac Garden Duck Creek Park, Davenport, Iowa
On the eastern edge of Davenport, the city has developed Duck Creek Park with areas for hiking, picnicking, and looking at nature. Here is the Stampe Lilac Garden, which has the Quad Cities’ largest collection of lilacs. Spread throughout the park are other varieties of flowering perennials and annuals.
The City of Davenport and the Davenport Horticultural Society dedicated the Stampe Lilac Garden in 1980 on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Stampe for their efforts in establishing and maintaining this outstanding horticultural area. Beginning in early April, flower enthusiasts can see narcissi, daffodils, crocus, and young blooming lilacs. In mid-April, hyacinths, tulips and crab apples will begin to bloom.
