Description – This museum and research center is housed in the restored Germania Haus/Miller Hotel, a Victorian structure built in 1868. The hotel had served as a stopping place for Germans emigrating west in the late nineteenth century. Thousands of these Germans took up temporary residence there before finding a home in the Quad Cities or going on farther west. The facility has old documents, other records, and artifacts relating to the German immigration and how those who came affected Iowa and other states. Visitors can do genealogical research in the library, archives, and research center.

The Bix Festival - Davenport, Iowa
This fabulous festival will have your wishing for more jazz! The opportunity to hear the greats and the up and coming jazz musicians is something every jazz lover will treasure from one year to the next.

Description – This dam, No. 10, is one of a series built on the Mississippi River. It is operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineer. It is 4,818 feet in length and contains 16 gates. Complimentary group tours are available on Sunday afternoons.

A gift of 334 paintings from Charles August Ficke to the City of Davenport formed the nucleus of the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery’s permanent collection when it was established in 1925.
The Museum has more than 3,500 holdings in its permanent collection of nationally and internationally known works of art.

Description – This is the world’s shortest, steepest scenic incline railway and it lifts passengers 189 feet from Fourth Street to Fenelon Place. The two cars always leave the upper and lower stations simultaneously, and pass at the midpoint of the track. They counterbalance each other so that the engine needs to supply only enough power to overcome friction and the different weights of the passengers in the cars

The facility includes 44,000 sq. ft. of programming space including a 9600 sq. ft. exhibit hall, three multi-purpose rooms for dance instruction and performances, two preschool classrooms, two art studios, one science studio, a party room, a great hall, museum store, welcome theater for school groups and an outdoor science discovery park "Kingdom for Kids" playground. Exhibits and classes are designed for all ages.

Description – The museum’s permanent collection is wide and varied. One is an interactive exhibit of ecosystems—marshland, forest, and prairie–in the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Displayed are over 100 animal specimens and an aquarium full of fish. Another room is the Hall of Mammals and that display includes full-scale African and Arctic animals. Another area covered is the Native Americans of the region and how the river and the prairie affected their lives. The Asian/Egyptian Gallery has a 3,000-year-old mummy in it.

Register of Historic Places and a Point of Interest with Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area, Potter’s Mill offers a unique atmosphere with many of the artifacts from the Mill’s flour producing days still on display.

Description – This museum is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River on the north side of Ice Harbor. It is comprised of several sites: Woodard Riverboat Museum, the steamboat sidewheeler William M. Black, the River of Dreams theater, the National Rivers Hall of Fame, and an exhibit on Dubuque. While at the museum, you can float on a simulated log raft and you can explore a gently rocking steamboat. (You might even have a chance to ring the bronze pilot’s bell.)

Clinton, Iowa hosts a replica of a Mississippi riverboat, visitors can receive a complete entertainment experience. There are two full casino decks where gamblers can play slot machines, blackjack, poker, Caribbean stud, craps, and roulette. In addition, one will find an onboard dining room, live entertainment, deli, and children’s activity center. Between mid-May and mid-October, the boat cruises on the Mississippi five weekday afternoons
