In an historic, two-story brick business, the Mercantile Fillmore Building built in 1894 in Dows, Iowa, the present owners offer antiques, crafts, and gifts in both sides, in the basement, and on a balcony. They also have an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, the Crème-De-La-Crème Ice Cream Shop, on the main floor where one can enjoy coffee, tea, cider, cookies, rolls, pie, ice cream, or soup and sandwich. It has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Nearby is an 1880 country school with an outhouse. (The latter is open, but out of order.) Across from the store and schoolhouse is a garden.
