Hobo Museum - Britt, Iowa
This is the only museum in existence that devotes itself to the HOBO way of life. Through its exhibits and displays is shown the intricate history of hobo life with lots of railroad memorabilia. The hobo story is told in photographs, artifacts, and video. This museum is an integral part of the National Hobo Convention which has been held in Britt since 1900.
Hemken Collection - Williams, Iowa
In this car museum are showcased 1947 and 1948 American convertibles and car memorabilia. The museum especially features Packards of that era.
Vintage car enthusiasts will enjoy this museum featuring American convertibles of marques ranging from Chevys to Lincolns to Hudsons to Packards from 1947 and 1948. The cars comprise the nucleus of the collection of Daryl Hemken, housed in downtown Williams, which is north of Des Moines on I-35.
Hayden Prairie in Iowa - Chester, Iowa
240 acres of natural prairie land just like it was 160 years ago!
In the early days of Iowa the land was covered with prairie grasses and flowers. As time moved forward the land was converted to corn, soybeans, pasture land and industry. The prairie land disappeared from the landscape.
Hawkeye Buffalo Ranch/Buffalo Store - Fredricksburg, Iowa
Located in Fredericksburg, Iowa visitors to the ranch are taken on guided tours of the pasture areas where the buffalo roam. The ranch is located on 500 acres of rolling hill and timber country in Northeast Iowa. The history of this family goes back to 1854 when their great grandfather settled and lived in a sod house on this very land.
Grafton Heritage Depot Museum
This is a two-story depot, built around 1899, that has been restored. The first floor includes the waiting room, depot agent’s office, and freight room. On the second floor now is housed memorabilia of Grafton, a town whose population presently is around 300, and its surrounding areas.
Fossil And Prairie Park Preserve & Center- Charles City/Mason City Area, Iowa
This center will provide interpretive information about the fossils in the area and the nearby native prairie. The park has over 400 acres, of which 80 contains the flora of a typical Iowa prairie.
This 400-acre park is a unique attraction, being one of only three known public fossil collecting sites in the nation (CNN, 2003). The Devonian fossils can be easily collected by visitors of any age, attracting school groups from elementary through college, as well as researchers and families.
Fort Museum And Frontier Village - Fort Dodge, Iowa
In the southwest part of Fort Dodge, Iowa, a replica of an 1862 fort with a frontier town inside the stockade has been developed. Two cabins of the twelve buildings within the fort are original. The museum displays Native American, pioneer, and military artifacts. Front Street has the following examples of establishments, all furnished with period memorabilia: cabinet shop, drugstore, general store, jail, log chapel, log house, newspaper office, schoolhouse, and smithy.
Fort Custer Maze - Clear Lake, Iowa
Over 6 miles of maze for your enjoyment. This 1850’s style Western maze will keep you and your family entertained in Clear Lake! There is a center lookout tower and 4 corner block towers to set the stage.
Get through the maze, get all 8 stamps located in the towers and under the bridges and you will be eligible for a weekly prize. Stop off at the "Jumperoo" where the kids can play while you plan out the next portion of your maze trek!
FLOYD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM - Charles City, Iowa
This museum is housed in the former Dr. Salsbury Laboratories building. It contains many exhibits depicting local history places or events. These include a pioneer log cabin, an original turn-of-the-century drugstore with soda fountain, county schools information, period rooms, and items relating to the development of the Hart-Parr gas tractors—one of the first companies to manufacture this type of equipment. The museum’s collection contains over 10,000 items and expanding its facility.
Evans Drug - Joice, Iowa
This building is the unofficial museum of Joice, Iowa. Small town museums offer a glimmer of the true history of the area. Many of the original fixtures of the drug store which was established in 1919 still remain. Other historic memorabilia of the area are on display
