Backbone State Park – Strawberry Point, Iowa
This park near Strawberry Point, Iowa, encompasses 1,750 acres and derives its name from the high ridge of rock in its center. It contains natural springs, caverns, and a man-made lake. Limestone bluffs rise 80 to 90 feet above the Maquoketa River. Camping, picnicking, hiking, boating, fishing, and swimming are permitted. Some winter sports can take place there.
