The Kirchner Park Museum – Peterson, Iowa

Kirchner Park MuseumThe Kirchner Park Museum – Peterson, Iowa The Christian Kirchner home is a typical Dutch Colonial structure. Built in 1867, it was the first frame house in Clay County.

The Kirchner’s were the first settlers in the Peterson area, their home remained in the family until 1971 when it was deeded to the city to be administered by the Peterson Heritage, Inc.

Peterson Heritage members have restored and renovated the home, which is open during the bi-annual Heritage Tour (even numbered years), by appointment, and for tours. This home represents a typical family farm home of the era.

The first church services and Sunday school for area people were held in this home.

Free will donation is gratefully accepted for this home.
