In the north part of Lucas County the major portion of this state forest is located. Visitors can experience a “forest wilderness” there or take part in many different recreational activities. In several different “units” camping is available. There are 88 non-modern sites in seven different campgrounds. Three of these are equestrian campgrounds; this park has 31 miles of trails just for horseback riders to enjoy. Another campground is especially for backpackers. For those interested in fishing, four ponds have been stocked for fishing. The entire area is open for public hunting during the various seasons.
