The Rathbun Fish Hatchery - Moravia, Iowa
This hatchery is located in Appanoose County about seven miles north of Centerville, Iowa. The hatchery is situated on 375 acres of land directly below the Rathbun Reservoir Dam. The facility complex includes a 5,000-squre foot hatchery/office building, 20 outside concrete rearing ponds, 40 indoor rearing tanks, pollution control ponds and three employee residences.

In Centerville, Iowa you can take the elevated observations walkway throughout the hatchery. Information center, aquariums, minitheater, audiovisual presentions on production methods, nature trail, restroom are all available. Original paintings by Maynard Reece and mounts of state record catches are displayed for your enjoyment.

The Vermeer Mill grinds wheat into flour using only wind power and is the tallest working windmill in the United States. It was completed in July 2002.
Area And Nature Center - Ottumwa, Iowa
This nature center in Ottumwa, Iowa is staffed with a full-time naturalist. Displays stressing flora and fauna of the area have been developed. Nearby are three stocked ponds that are open for public fishing.
Also available are 15 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails.
In Oskaloosa the Nelson Pioneer Farm includes structures of an 1853 brick home, 1856 barn listed on the National Register of Historic Places, log cabin Friends Meeting House (Oskaloosa is also the hosts the Iowa Yearly Meeting state office), one-room school, country store, voting house, post office, stagecoach stop, balcksmith building, machine sheds, and Kalback Lumber Co. office.
The world’s only museum dedicated to preserving the history of "big car" and sprint car racing is located in Knoxville, Iowa.
Sprint cars are small, high-powered race cars designed primarily for the purpose of running on short dirt or paved tracks. Sprint cars have a high power-to-weight ratio making sprint car racing exciting with speeds in excess of 140 MPH on some tracks.

Pella Opera House - Pella, Iowa The Pella Opera House is the largest institution for the arts in Marion County and provides a key anchor in the touring schedules of artists for the Midwest audiences.
First opened as an Opera House in 1900 the community supported the old facility and in 1990 renovation was done to make it appealing to the community and provide the wonderful opportunity to see great entertainment locally.

Working Amish Community - Near Bloomfield, Iowa Near Drakesville This is a working Amish comminity with over 40 businesses near Drakesville and Bloomfield, Iowa. (If you stop at the Davis County Welcome Center you can obtain maps to nearby Amish businesses.) This Amish settlement in southeast Iowa near Bloomfield, has been in existence since the mid-1960s.

In Chariton, Iowa an old school building, different historical themes are being developed.
Sections completed include the following: military room with uniforms displayed, miner’s home, and school room. Areas being worked on now are: agriculture, sports, churches, and government.

Wilderness Kingdom Zoo - Near Bloomfield, Iowa This 15-acre zoo and park has lions, tigers, alligators, wolves and bears. Get up close to goats, llamas and ducks in the zoo’s three-acre petting area.
