Tulip Time in Pella is the first weekend in May. The city comes alive with a parade, garden displays of tulips and celebrations.
The Pella Tulip Festival began in 1935 in celebration of the town’s heritage. It is a three day event that features street washing parades, costumed wooden shoe dancers, wooden shoe carving demonstrations, street venders selling poffertjes (Poffertjes are a traditional Dutch batter treat.

This new facility will certainly be someplace you want to visit.

Southern Hills Winery of Osceola received silver medals for its Edelweiss and You’re Making Me Blush wines, as well as a bronze for its Outback Zak, at the inaugural Mid-American Wine Competition at Des Moines Area Community College the summer of 2007.

This museum is housed in a 1900s home decorated in turn-of-the-Century fashion and contains memorabilia of the Chariton area. The museum house was built by A. J. Stephens, Chariton contractor, in 1907-09 for the family home. The Lucas County Historical Society purchased the home in 1966 for $10,500. All restorations and additions were supported by contributions.
