Iowa artist Grant Wood sketched this house located in Eldon, Iowa on a 1930 visit to the area and later that summer painted it as the background for his world-famous painting, "American Gothic".

Although not open to the public, visitors are welcome to view the house from the outside as Grant Wood did in 1930 when he was inspired by its unusual Gothic window.
