There are approximately 7 miles of hiking and biking trails that take visitors through a diversity of landscapes, such as timber, pine tree plantings, meadows, and reintroduced prairies. A 75-foot swinging bridge connects a picnic area with a camping area. In the campground are both camping pads—complete with electricity—and cabins. The picnic area has 3 shelter houses each of which will accommodate large groups. Nearby are softball, volleyball, and playground facilities.

At the Nature Center, a variety of displays have been developed for individuals and classroom groups to examine. Among these are a Native American artifact collection, Iowa mammal fur collection, a large aquarium, and a turtle tank.

Admission – modest camping fees for the pads; cabins rent for between $20 and $30 a night, depending upon the length of stay.

Directions – 1 mile southwest of Fairfield on Libertyville Road
