  1. Shirley Swartz says:

I went to the rodeo in Sidney when I was a little girl. Now I have three little granddaughters. They are 6,7,8 years old. We took them last year and they never moved from the beginning to the end. They were spell bound. The rodeo is well organized and moves right along. I would give it 4 stars.

  2. Leo Bammer says:

I was born and raised in Sidney. Every year this was the highlight of my life when the Rodeo came. Now that I have kids I am dying to take them to it. But with the economy the way it is and how far we live from Sidney I don’t think this will ever happen. But I know as a kid it was the greatest time of my life.

  3. Eldon E. Lawson says:

In the 1930′s I and a friend rode our bicycles from Nodaway County, MO through Sidney on our way to Nebraska. I still have a Sidney Rodeo card listing dates of August 15,16,17,18 but not the year. The card refers to, “Iowa’s 16th Annual Rodeo.” My gr-grandfather moved to Fremont Co, in the 1860′s and my grandfather was born in Farragut. I was Supervisor of Dining Services, U. of Iowa, in early 1950′s. My wife’s Gentry family settled Madison Co. in 1850′s, had much to do with building the famous covered bridges, and laying out the town of Winterset, so we are both rooted in the Hawkeye State. If I was there for the 16th Sidney Rodeo, what year was that?

The Sidney Iowa rodeo is GREAT!!! They have plenty of entertainment in and out of the rodeo such as concessions, a bucking machine, a flea market that might need some encouragement so if you have anything to sell it would be great if you could gather up your items and reseve a spot to sell them. They also have rides and some amazing food! I was on the Two County Dusters so I could tell you by experience the rodeo is fun to attend. Just being able to be apart of is awesome. We need to get some of the great entertainment back to the rodeo such as trick riders and if you have anything to do with horses try out for the dusters!!!

  5. LANA BLAZER says:

  9. Beverly McKain Jackson says:

I have enjoyed reading the pages and comments on the Sidney Rodeo. As a child, I rode with Simcox Rough Riders out of Kansas City, Kansas. It was a group of children, performing drills, square dances, trick riding and roping. We attended the Sidney Rodeo and performed for 4 years, 1938, 1939, 1940, and 1941. I was shocked when I figured that up and it had been 73 years! We disbanded in ’41 due to WW2.
Our family is still connected with rodeoing, my daughter barrel raced, son in law, steer wrestler, and grandson is a roper.
I agree, Sidney is the “GREAT RODEO”.
