This four hundred and forty-four acre recreation area has over one hundred campsites, some with electricity. This county park boasts of having a seventy-acre lake that is good for fishing and swimming. There is a large beach and a bathhouse. Boating is permitted on the lake. The park has picnic areas and biking and hiking trails. Visitors can view native timber and study a small prairie restoration effort. A herd of live buffalo is also located in the park.

  1. Just took a quiet drive through the Recreation Area and were treated to a view (from the rear!) of a herd of deer on the S side of the camping area (B). The true delight of our tour were the 2 pairs of mated eagles teaching their fledglings to fish through the ice on the NW side of the lake. It was an 8-eagle day! Fabulous!
