In Breda, Iowa is the wonderful former home stadium of the Breda Eagles, semi-pro team of the 1940’s and the 1975 St. Bernard High School State Baseball Champions. It features one of the few remaining wooden covered grandstands in the Midwest. Built in 1947 (totally restored in 2001) for $15,000, it was described as “one of the best baseball parks in the state” with grandstand seating 600 and “lighting facilities equal to any in Iowa”. Stop anytime for a step back in time.

Audubon County Courthouse Museum - Audubon, Iowa

This was the first courthouse established in the county. In 1879, after it had been in existence for five years, the seat of government was moved to Audubon. The building in Exira then was used for many different purposes before it became a museum, such as: opera house, dance hall, roller rink, movie theater, public library, bakery, café, and outreach center.

Ameristar CasinoAmeristar Casino - Council Bluffs, Iowa prides itself on providing a total entertainment experience. In 1996 the riverboat casino opened for business. It was then, and is now, the largest riverboat casino in the state.

In 1999 Ameristar Council Bluffs was awarded the prestigious AAA Four Diamond designation. It is the only riverboat facility in the state to hold this honor.

Come to see what is on the southern edge of Audubon, Iowa, where a park was developed in 1963. Its main attraction is a bull, named Albert, constructed of concrete and steel. His height is 30 feet, his width is 15 feet, and the whole structure weighs 45 tons.

Railswest Railroad Museum - Council Bluffs, Iowa

railroaddepot.gifIn this 1899 Rock Island Railroad depot in Council Bluffs, Iowa, has been established a museum dedicated to railroad history—especially relating to the westward expansion of the United States and to the railroad development during the steam era.

Memorabilia such as historic photographs, examples of passes, dining car artifacts, uniforms, and timetables are on display. Since trains were a major part of the history of the town, the RailsWest Model Railroad tries to recreate that time. It depicts the operations of the railroads in the surrounding area. The exhibit is in a room 22 feet by 34 feet and is operational.
